Andrew's Lego Cake

Andrew was having a LEGO birthday party and requested a Lego cake.  I purchased a Lego mold from Amazon.com so that I could make some colorful Legos for use in decorating Andrew's cake.  I always forget how time-consuming making chocolates can be.  You melt, you pour, you cool, you remove and you do it all over again.  I'm happy that I was able to make as many as I did.  I think the chocolate Legos made ma great border around Andrew's cake.

The pictures are a little deceiving.  It looks like Andrew's cake is resting on a layer of Legos, but the cake goes all of the way down to the cake board.  This is two 9X13 chocolate cakes filled with a marshmallow and graham cracker filling and a little extra fudge to make everyone want s'more!  

I hope Andrew had a great party!  (I heard the candy Legos went over REALLY well!)

Evan's Colorful Birthday Cake

Michelle ordered this cake for her son for a family celebration they were having.  She told me that she wanted something with a lot of color and she liked the look of the cakes that were covered with frosting using the star tip, like my Buzz Lightyear cake here.  

This was a pure joy to do!  And I photographed each step of the way so you can see the progress as I did!

I started with orange and then progressed from there:

Evan's cake is a chocolate cake with vanilla bean buttercream frosting.  His name on the cake is made out of fondant.

I really like how this turned out!  A truly fun, colorful cake for a fun, colorful little boy!  Happy Birthday, Evan!

Christian's Toy Story Cake

Christian wanted a Toy Story cake for his 2nd birthday.  He's a huge fan of the movie, which he refers to as the Woody/Buzz movie!!  What a cutie!!  Well, I had a good time with this cake.   Just this last week, my family and I took a trip to Chicago for a few days and we were fortunate enough to stop in a Disney Store.  After spending too much time there, (far too much time there), I scored the cake toppers for Christian's cake.  Perfect size, perfect characters (Buzz Lightyear was not included in the set).  But I love how the cake turned out! 

This cake is a yellow cake with raspberry preserve filling and lots and lots of buttercream, topped with fondant and Toy Story toys.
